EVIE DRAWING A1 PROPOSED PLAN
EVIE PARK SKETCH PERSPECTIVE

Evie Community Park

Evie

A new school was built in Evie and 59 degrees north was approached to redesign the existing playpark which had fallen into disrepair. It was also proposed to extend the park into the site compound area used during the school construction. The proposed design creates a natural landscape for social gatherings, play and increased biodiversity.

A central 'hub' to include an open multi-functional grass area with stone built bbq and seating, an ampi-theatre for school and community performances or events and outdoor teaching is to be created with planting areas to create a focus to main entrance to park. Toddler play, swings and sand play area are to be clustered around central hub.  Tarmac paths are proposed to create access for wheel and push chairs.

An existing area of trees to north is to be enlarged and timber play structures are to be inserted to increase the play value. A carved rock dragon feature to the north of the ampi-theatre is to be installed and new tree and shrub boundary planting to create shelter and increase biodiversity.

Proposed topography creates a playscape with a large hill and stone built broch with large stainless steel slide leading into a sand play area. The park is landscaped to the south to provide a sheltered valley with view points. A series of secondary paths to encourage exploration of the park and act as a route for school 'walk a mile' activities. Woven willow structures throughout site provide play potential and socialsing spaces.

Planning has been approved for the park and works are to start this year.
